Applications to nursing schools are ever increasing as countless individuals seek to be a member of the Healthcare Industry, which is among the fastest in the country, according to the American Association of Colleges. However, more than 52,000 qualified applicants are not admitted to programs because of limited space in nursing schools. According to the American Nurses Association (ANA), the employment rate for nurses has risen more than 10% since 1980. Furthermore, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that nursing careers are projected to grow much faster than most other professions in the years to come due to factors such as the considerably large population of aging baby boomers, as well as the influences of the Affordable Care Act.
